On Nov. 4, the Bryant City Council held a special meeting for the second reading of ordinances amending comprehensive zoning of properties on Boone Road and for property for a Dollar General on Highway 5.
With six of the eight City Aldermen present,[more] a motion for a second and third reading by title only was made and passed unanimously and the two ordinances passed.
The first reading of the ordinance for the Dollar General was read at the Oct. 14 City Council meeting and failed to be read by title only, which meant City Clerk Brenda Cockerham had to read the entire document.
The area at 507 Boone Road that had been recommended for approval by the City Planning Commission was added to the City Council agenda in October and passed a first reading. The second and third readings were postponed to the special meeting on Nov. 4, on a failed motion to suspend the rules to read the entire document.
