CONWAY — The records of individual games I've been able to cobble together only go back to[more] the 1992-93 season so I can't say "ever" but, since then, no Bryant varsity basketball team — boys or girls — has ever won in Conway until tonight when both the Bryant Lady Hornets and Bryant Hornets left Faulkner County with victories in hand. Actually, it was a clean sweep for Bryant which also won the boys junior varsity game.
Since joining the Central conference for the 2002-03 season and playing Conway twice every year, the Hornets, in fact, have only defeated the Wampus Cats twice, taking games at home in 2007 and 2008. The Lady Hornets have had better success but always at home except in the State Tournament in 2001-02. Since then, the Bryant girls have won five times, most recently in 2009-10. The Lady Hornets went 24-4 during that regular season with one of those four losses coming at Conway.
At least for the next two-year cycle, Bryant won't be playing Conway in conference anymore. BHS will be rejoining the South conference next year. So it was a particularly satisfying farewell.
Details of the games will be forthcoming.
