TULSA — Oral Roberts University outfielder Joey Winiecki of Bryant has been named to the all-Summit League second team. The speedy Winiecki is batting .337 with 22 runs batted in and 13 stolen bases overall this season. In league play, he has hit .327 with 16 RBIs and eight thefts.[more]
ORU had four players named to the all-league first team. Winieck was one of two others named second team all-conference.
Winiecki and the Golden Eagles captured the championship of the Summit League post-season tournament Saturday defeating South Dakota State, 12-2, in the final at J.L. Johnson Stadium in Tulsa. Winiecki went 2-for-5 with a double to lead off the game leading to a five-run outburst.
ORU gains the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals with the victory.
