CABOT — The Bryant White Hornets eighth and seventh grade teams earned victories on Tuesday night over the Cabot North Panthers. The eighth-grade team prevailed 39-36 while the seventh-grade team bounced back from its first loss with a 33-16 victory.
The seventh graders wrapped up their pre-Christmas schedule with a 3-1 record. They’ll play next on Jan. 6 at Little Rock Christian.
The eighth graders, now 5-2, return to Cabot to play South on Thursday to complete their pre-holiday schedule.
In the eighth-grade game on Tuesday, the Hornets were led by Isaiah Kearney’s 10 points. Will Diggins added 8 and Khasen Robinson 7.
“Cabot came out and played very physical and we didn’t respond until the second period,” said Hornets coach John Harrison. “That’s when our press started to turn them over and we got to the basket.
“Gavin Burton and Khasen Robinson came off the bench and played really well in the second half,” he noted. “Both made free throws down the stretch to ice the game. Khasen dished out several assists for easy scores.”
In the seventh-grade game, Cory Nichols led the way with 11 points. Jordan Knox had 9 and Braylen Montgomery 6.
“We had some issues with free-throw shooting in the first half and had trouble scoring,” Harrison mentioned. “The second half, our full-court press created some easy scores and put the game away.”
