Senior Kyle Thompson took top honors and freshman Garith East earned a runner-up medal to highlight to work of the Bryant Hornets at the conference wrestling tournament Friday and Saturday.
In addition, sophomore Landon Smith and freshman Reggie Clemons early fourth place finishes.
Thompson won the 160-pound division, defeating Little Rock Catholic’s Cameron Boardman in the championship match, 17-0.
East made it to the finals match by defeating No. 1 seed Justin Vaughn of Searcy. In the title bout, he battled Russellville’s Logan Sloss before absorbing an 11-8 loss.
“Kyle and Garith were outstanding,” said Hornets coach Dondre Harris. “And we’re proud of Landon and Reggie. All of the guys competed hard.”
The Hornets prepare this week for the State Tournament to be held at the Jack Stephens Center at UALR this Friday and Saturday.
