RUSSELLVILLE — Freshman Charlie Terry and sophomore Connor Wilson each turned in top 20[more] performances as the Bryant Hornets competed in the largest meet of the season so far at the Russellville Cyclone Invitational Saturday.
The Hornets earned a fourth place finish with 126 points with Terry finishing 11th in a time of 16:52 and Wilson earning a top 20 medal as well by finishing 20th in 17:06.
LR Catholic turned in a dominating performance to win the team title with 26 points. Lake Hamilton was second (102), and Russellville third (108). A total of 19 teams and 256 individuals competed in the 5k (3.1 miles) race.
Rounding out the Hornet's top seven were Tyler Purtle (28th in 17:40), Nicholas Schmidt (31st in 17:44), Clifton Hampton (48th in 18:02), Jim Dellorto (52nd in 18:06), and Spencer Adami (65th in 18:33).
"We had a very solid meet,” stated Bryant coach Steve Oury. “Charlie Terry ran what may have been the fastest 5k time ever for a freshman at Bryant. He ran a great race.
“Connor Wilson also ran an outstanding race,” he noted. “Tyler Purtle was not feeling his best, but still fought hard and passed people in the last mile. Nicholas Schmidt has been very steady all year. He has really stepped up.
“I'm looking forward to seeing how we do next week at the Chile Pepper meet in Fayetteville," Oury said.
