The 11th annual Taste of Bryant on Tuesday, July 28, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. has already attracted 27 food servers and several interesting silent auction donations. Pulaski Technical College’s culinary school will be participating and doing cooking demonstrations.
Brian Cochrane, a chef well known to Bryant residents (formerly owner of Taste of Heritage) is the new director of the Finish Line Café at Pulaski Tech and will be at the school’s booth.
“Food is the focus of this event. However, we already have silent auction donations of an electric guitar, advertising consulting, paintings … lots of good buys for the successful bidder ,” noted Chairperson Beth Smith with Heartland Community Bank.
The event is held at the Bryant High School Cafeteria South, Bldg. 5 Food includes steak, Italian, Mexican, baked goods, Chinese, fish, chicken, sandwiches, deli, BBQ, home cooked food and pizza.[more]
Silent auction items can be donated by anyone who is wishing to draw attention to a product or service their company offers.
“We have seen some really clever businesses donate something that brings attention to something new they are doing. That’s instant awareness,” said Smith.
Individuals may also donate to the silent auction. Community supporters who are not businesses have donated all manner of items in the past – everything from practical items like coupons for haircuts and oil changes to less practical things like artwork and fur coats.
“It’s just a fun, laid back event. You come when you want, eat what you want, leave when you want and don’t listen to any speakers,” noted Rae Ann Fields, Executive Director of the Bryant Area Chamber of Commerce. “We won’t even have a sound system this year. We are going to post bidder numbers for those who win the silent auction."
Items can be brought to the Bryant Area Chamber of Commerce, 109 Roya Lane. Tickets to the event are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Kids 6 and under eat free. Tickets go up to $15 at the door that night and tickets are not sold the day of the event as the Chamber office is closed for preparation for the event that evening.
