Rain has made a mess of the Class 7A State baseball and softball tournaments in northwest Arkansas. As of this morning, only one game in either tournament has been played. In baseball, North Little Rock defeated Bentonville, 5-4.
The entire first round of the softball tournament in Bentonville was postponed until today, pushing the second round including the opener for the Bryant Lady Hornets to Monday. Gametimes for Monday have not been announced.
The baseball tournament was also pushed back to today with designs on playing both the rest of the first round and the second round games today if not at the original sites in Fayetteville and Springdale perhaps at Fort Smith or Van Buren. The Bryant Hornets' opener, originally set for noon today, is now scheduled for 3 p.m., at a field to be determined.
Of course, all the plans for today are up in the air, literally, because there's an 80 percent chance for more rain from Van Buren to Bentonville today and tonight.
