Voters in the Bryant School District will determine the fate of a proposed 4.7 millage initiative today and tomorrow in a special election. Early voting had been ongoing and will conclude today. It’s being held at Grace Church on Highway 5 in Bryant and at the voting center in downtown Benton.
Regular voting will be held on Tuesday at the Avila Community Center, Bryant First Methodist Church, Centerpoint Church, Central Arkansas Church of Christ, Grace Church, Paron Fire Department, Salem United Methodist Church. Sardis United Methodist Church, Vimy Ridge Immanuel Baptist Church, and Woodland Hills Water Department. Polls will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The millage has been proposed to pay for additional classroom space as the District continues to grow at an average of 250 students a year, according to information from Bryant schools.
Proposed projects to be funded by the millage increase include construction of new elementary and middle schools; additions to Collegeville and Davis Elementary schools; District-wide technology updates; upgrades of the Bryant High School cafeteria and various roofing projects; additions for eighth and ninth grade academies; contruction of a health, physical education, and activity facility; and additions to fine arts facilities.
