PARAGOULD — Once again, the Bryant Aquatics Swim School (BASS) motored its way to an AAU Long Course State title. Only this time it was courtesy of a come-from-behind victory as the team trailed the host Greene County Gators by 189 points going into the final day of competition. Ultimately, the BASS rallied to a narrow 13 point victory in part to some great sibling performances on the weekend.
Leading the way for the team were sisters Isabella Lagemann (8u girls)/Abigail Lagemann (9-10 girls) and brothers Noah Robnett (8u boys)/Brenden Robnett (11-12 boys). All four athletes earned High Point Awards for the competition and won several individual events on their way to a team championship.
“We only brought 26 swimmers to this meet,” said Jim Norman, BASS head coach. “We realized on Saturday night that we had a chance to win and every swimmer put forth an incredible effort to get the job done. I couldn’t be prouder.”
The championship is a testament to the ongoing success and growth of the club since its inception in 2011. Several swimmers from the team will be competing at the Junior Olympics in Virginia Beach, Va., the weekend of July 30-Aug. 2.
