The Bryant Blue Lady Hornets eighth grade volleyball team of Bethel Middle School improved to 6-0 after defeating their counterparts from Little Rock Christian on Thursday, Sept. 15, 25-16, 25-16.
“We had a lot of players contribute,” said Bethel coach Melissa Bragg. “They stayed focused and aggressive the entire time they were on the court. Another great win.”
Alyssa Hernandez served up four aces while Shaylee Carver, Ashton Inman, Anna Barnes and Ella Reynolds each produced a kill in the victory. Abbey Inman contributed an ace along with four assists.
In addition, Barnes and Olivia German had service aces. Barnes also had an assist and a dig.
Ashton Inman led with eight digs. German had four, Jill Colclasure two with one each from Hernandez and Maddie Thomas.
In a seventh-grade A game, the Lady Hornets fell 21-25, 18-25. Jade Rivers led the team with six kills. Scarlet Matlock had one.
Serving, Riley Hudson got in all four of her serves and Lauren Baker was 3 for 3. Matlock was 2 for 2 with an ace while Savannah Rye got in two of her three serves, one for an ace. Claire Watson was good on 6 of 8 serves and Lily Studdard was 4 of 6.
Isabella Jackson had two digs for the Lady Hornets.
The seventh grade B team split sets with Little Rock Christian, 25-23, 20-25. Rye and Victoria Lockhard each served for aces. Alana Gould got in all eight of her serves. Madison Bailey was 5 of 6 while Rye went 4 for 4. Lockhart was good on six of her seven serves.
The eighth grade team returns to action tonight at Benton while the seventh grade team hosts a pair of teams from Conway on Tuesday.
