In a battle royal, the Bryant White Lady Hornets seventh grade team of Bryant Middle School[more] edged the Bryant Blue Lady Hornets, 29-28, in overtime on Tuesday night at the Bethel Middle School gym.
Maddie Stephens hit two free throws in the final 20 seconds to give Bryant White the winning edge. Bryant Blue cut a free throw off the margin at the end as Bryant White held on for the win.
“It was a great game with a packed house and a great atmosphere,” stated Bryant White coach Kenny Hays. “Both teams played hard and the game could have gone either way.”
Bryant Blue held a 6-3 lead after a quarter but Bryant White surged in the second and held an 11-7 advantage at the half. Bryant White built the margin up to 22-15 going into the fourth quarter before Bryant Blue rallied to tie the game at 25.
Raven Loveless led Bryant White with 10 points. Breleigh Simmons added 8, Stevens 6, Kelly Williams 3 and Maddie Miller 2.
Raija Todd led Bryant Blue with 17 points. Danielle Singleton finished with 4, Katy Evans 3 and Stephanie Cullen and Baylee Rowton 2 each.
Bryant White is set to return to action at Hot Springs Lakeside on Thursday before closing out the regular season on Thursday, Jan. 31, against Lighthouse Charter School in a game that will be played at the Bryant High School gym.
Bryant Blue is set to host Lighthouse Charter on Monday, Jan. 28.
