CONWAY — The Bryant Blue Hornets seventh grade track team from Bethel Middle School scored in 11 events to accumulate[more] 57 points at a meet held at John McConnell Stadium on Monday.
“They did real well bringing their best effort so far this year,” stated coach Bobby Winn. “We were really excited when we scored 57 points to finish fifth out of 14 teams.”
The effort was led by Charlie Terry who won the 1600 meter run in a time of 5:34 and finished second in the 800 at 2:37. He also contributed a leg to the 1600 meter relay team which finished third in a time of 4:33.82. Joining Terry on the relay were Liam Miller, Austin Harvey and Taylor Hecker.
The Hornets’ 3200 meter relay team earned a second-place finish with a time of 10:48. Ben Majors, Eric Stewart, Chandler Reep and Gunnar Burks teamed up on the effort.
Austin Blacklaw, Miller, Brian Ng and Logan Allen formed the Hornets’ 400 meter relay team. Their 54.81 clocking was good for fifth.
Individually, Tanner Ezell finished fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:47 and fifth in the 1600 in 5:58. Allen also turned in a fifth-place finish when he covered 29 feet, seven inches with his triple jump.
Justin Karp contributed a sixth-place finish in the discus with a toss of 80’4” while Stewart turned in a 6:04 clocking to place sixth in the 1600.
Burks was seventh in the 800 at 2:48 while Miller took eighth in the long jump with a leap of 14’11”. Aaron Orender contributed an eighth in the triple jump, covering 28’11”.
