MOUNTAIN HOME — Storms in the Mountain Home area prevented the final day of the 23rd annual Brooks Robinson-Lockeroom Twin Lakes Classic on Sunday. The tournament was down the final four with the Bryant Black Sox Senior American Legion team set to play Zone 4 rival Little Rock Continental Express in one semifinal and Christian Brothers of Tennessee taking on Pontatoc, Miss., in the other.
As it turned out, the champion of the tournament was decided by runs allowed and Pontotoc edged Bryant 10-11 for the title. The Sox were runner-up, Continental third and Christian Brothers fourth.
Justin Blankenship and Kaleb Jobe were named to the all-tournament team for the Sox. Blankenship won the stolen base trophy with five.
"We were set with our pitching for today," said Bryant manager Craig Harrison, "but it just wasn't meant to be. I liked the way we competed this week, and last week (in a jamboree in Fayetteville). We are 13-2 but still haven't played our best baseball.
"Hopefully, we will avoid the post-tournament letdown and play hard against Pine Bluff and Jacksonville this week."
Bryant hosts Pine Bluff Simmons in a Zone 4 game on Tuesday then welcomes Jacksonville on Wednesday and Little Rock Post 1 Blue on Saturday.
