WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE TOY AS A KID? I always had this doll and she had a big head and she did flips.
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AFTER HIGH SCHOOL? I’m going to ASU to study either Early Childhood Education with Special Education or Physical Therapy assistant.
OTHER THAN YOUR PARENTS, WHO’S HAD THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON YOUR LIFE? HOW? Pam Shoptaw, my cheer coach. She’s just been with me forever. She’s a family friend also and she’s really supportive in everything that I do.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT TRACK? Staying in shape.
EVENTS: I do the long jump and the triple jump, the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles and the 4×400 relay.
WHAT APPROACH DO YOU TAKE TO YOUR EVENTS? In long jump and triple jump, I’ve had to really warm up more because every time I go into another event then I come back to jump, I always have to warm up more for those two. For the 300 meter hurdles and the relay, I just have to calm myself down. I freak out.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE SEASON SO FAR? I like it. We have a lot of talent and we’re a strong team. We’ve just got to focus.
WHAT’S BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT TO THE SEASON SO FAR? Beating Cabot in the final relay (at the Hornet Relays).
WHAT’S IT GOING TO TAKE FOR THE TEAM TO BE SUCCESSFUL THE REST OF THE SEASON? We’re just going to have to work hard still and stay together as a team.
TALK ABOUT YOUR EVENT NOW; WHAT DO THINK IS YOUR BIGGEST ASSET? WHAT ARE YOU MOST CONFIDENT IN YOUR ABILITY TO DO? I’m competitive, really competitive in everything I do.
WHAT DO YOU WORK HARDEST TO IMPROVE ON IN PRACTICE? Right now, I’m working on strength for jumps. I’ve been working on my jumps a lot and then hurdles with my trail leg, pulling that through fast.
WHEN YOU’RE THROUGH RUNNING TRACK AT BRYANT HIGH SCHOOL, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL LOOK BACK AND REMEMBER MOST FONDLY ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE? Just everything, having fun with everybody, goofing off and then being serious and going out and winning.
