WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE TOY AS A KID? Legos.
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AFTER HIGH SCHOOL? Attend ASU in Jonesboro and major probably in English or Communications.
OTHER THAN YOUR PARENTS, WHO’S HAD THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON YOUR LIFE? HOW? Probably Coach (Steve) Oury. He sets a really good example for us, in everything we do to try to do it right no matter what anybody else is saying.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT TRACK? When you’re running and you do well, you just feel so good about it. They call it the runner’s high. And then when you just try real hard and you compete well, your times get lower, it feels good.
EVENT: I run the mile, the two mile, the 800.
WHAT APPROACH DO YOU TAKE TO YOUR EVENTS? They’re different. In the 800, it’s really just kind of hold onto your pace because it’s really tough. In the mile, it’s don’t start out too fast, try to stay consistent with your pace and finish strong. The two-mile is the same, you just endure it and finish strong.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE SEASON SO FAR? I think we’re doing real well. Winning the Bryant meet was great. They said they can’t remember a team that’s ever won the Bryant meet so that was really great. It’s good to see our hard work pay off.
WHAT’S BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT TO THE SEASON SO FAR? Winning the Bryant meet.
WHAT’S IT GOING TO TAKE FOR THE TEAM TO BE SUCCESSFUL THE REST OF THE SEASON? We’ve got to get better. Like Coach Oury’s always saying, we can’t be complacent. We can’t be satisfied with what we’ve done so far. We have to get better if we’re going to win conference.
TALK ABOUT YOUR EVENT NOW; WHAT DO THINK IS YOUR BIGGEST ASSET? WHAT ARE YOU MOST CONFIDENT IN YOUR ABILITY TO DO? I’m a competitor. I love to compete.
WHAT DO YOU WORK HARDEST TO IMPROVE ON IN PRACTICE? Probably getting a little turn up, getting a little faster because I can stay with a consistent pace but when it comes down to the end of the race sometimes some guys out-leg me. I want to get better speed at the end.
WHEN YOU’RE THROUGH RUNNING TRACK AT BRYANT HIGH SCHOOL, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL LOOK BACK AND REMEMBER MOST FONDLY ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE? I’m just going to remember all the time that I put into it and how I was able to go from being so slow in ninth grade to really improving. And just getting to know all these guys. It’s like a special bond when you work this hard with a bunch of guys, a special friendship.
