WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE TOY AS A KID? A ripstik
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AFTER HIGH SCHOOL? Go to college, major in Business Management and come back home and try to run my family’s bakery and franchise it. I hope to attend Memphis or A-State.
OTHER THAN YOUR PARENTS, WHO HAS HAD THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON YOUR LIFE? Probably my older sister; I mean she did everything for me. She kind of just laid the path for me so if she can do it I can do it, that sort of thing.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT FOOTBALL? The aspect of the team itself; just being able to bond with my teammates and just kick it with my friends. Your teammates become your best friends.
POSITION: Running back
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE SEASON SO FAR? So far, we’re good. I feel really, really confident as more and more we’re starting to bond. And the more a football team bonds the closer they play on the field. So we’re doing really good so far and I’m expecting a great season ahead of us.
WHAT’S BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT TO THE SEASON SO FAR? Just being undefeated minus the Benton game; just playing good football. The defense is playing good, the offense is playing good ball and whenever we get rolling, we’re going to win the game. So I like that.
WHAT’S IT GOING TO TAKE FOR THE TEAM TO BE SUCCESSFUL THE REST OF THE SEASON? Just a little bit more discipline. We’ve got a lot of guys that are fired up. And just self-discipline, limiting the small penalties and executing small things. It really the small things. If we get all that taken care of, I believe we can win the State championship.
INDIVIDUALLY, WHAT ABOUT YOUR GAME ARE YOU MOST CONFIDENT ABOUT? My game is just to get behind my blockers. I’ve never been a shaking kind of guy, like a flashy kind of guy. What I do is I just use my blockers and cut off of them and find ways between those two. But I’m not really flashy. That’s my game.
WHAT DO YOU WORK HARDEST TO IMPROVE? Probably my vision; I have decent vision but I like to set up different blocks and make sure I’m reading my reads right and cutting back and stuff like that. So, if there’s something I really want to improve in practice, it’s just working on my vision and footwork.
AFTER YOU’RE THROUGH PLAYING FOOTBALL AT BHS, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL REMEMBER MOST FONDLY ABOUT IT? I’ll probably remember just every aspect. As a senior this year, I’ve been thinking about it — the early morning practices to lifting weights after school to the hot practices that I hated going to. That’s something I’ll miss the most. And, really, the coaches and the team staff, I’m going to miss too.
