Central Arkansas Development Council Bryant Senior Wellness and Activity Center will be participating in the national 2015 March for Meals campaign. The general public is invited to participate at the center, located at Bishop Park, 6401 Boone Road, #3.
The Center will kick off the campaign on March 16 with Mayor Jill Dabbs and Alderman B.E. Higginbotham delivering home delivered meals at 11 a.m. On March 17, the Bryant Police Department will deliver meals beginning at 11 a.m. On March 18, Alderman Rob Roedel will deliver meals beginning at 11 a.m. On March 20, the Bryant Chamber of Commerce will deliver meals beginning at 11 a.m.
Donations for the event are accepted. All funds raised will support the home meal delivery program.
“In this tough economy, the food and human contact we provide to seniors in this community is needed more than ever,” said Mary Vickers, Site Manager of the Bryant Senior Center. “We need the community to come out and support our March for Meals events. Our customers are counting on us.”
March for Meals is a national campaign held during the month of March, initiated and sponsored by the Meals On Wheels Association of America to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of local communities.
Vickers encourages the community to get involved in the March for Meals campaign by sponsoring a fundraiser for meals and supplies for the home delivered meals program, volunteering at the center, or advocating for the service.
“The March for Meals Campaign is a time when our community can come together to stand with our aging population and make an impact on senior hunger in the Bryant area,” said Vickers.
The Bryant Senior Wellness and Activity Center gives older adults support and encouragement to reach new levels of independence, fostering educational and emotional wellness for persons 60 and older. Activities include exercise, social interaction, nutrition, transportation services, recreational events, book clubs, computer training, and more.
