Fall football practice officially gets underway on Monday, Aug. 2, but preparations for the season opening Salt Bowl pitting Saline County rival Bryant Hornets and Benton Panthers have been going on for quite some time already.
The annual event, which has attracted more than 20,000 fans in recent years, will be played on Friday, Sept. 3, at War Memorial Stadium.[more]
This year’s theme is “Show Your True Colors.” Fans are encouraged to wear the school colors of the team they are supporting. And, to aid in that effort, a special advanced t-shirt-ticket combo for the Salt Bowl is now on sale at all central Arkansas Big Red locations. For $10, fans get a specially-designed “Show Your True Colors” t-shirt (either Bryant blue or Benton maroon) plus a game ticket.
At the gate the day of the game, tickets will be $8 and t-shirts $10.

Live radio broadcasts of Hornets football will once again be available this fall on American Family Radio, KANX 91.1 FM and KBDO 91.7 FM, thanks to the efforts of Dr. Jim Lagrone.
Sponsorships are still available for the broadcasts. Those interested can contact Lagrone via email at jimlagrone@netzero.net
Once again this season, Rob Patrick will supply the play-by-play with color commentary from Kirk Stewart with stats and halftime analysis from Leroy Tinkler and Aaron Shuttleworth. In addition, Lagrone, who supplied color commentary for over 10 years, will return on occasion as a guest commentator.
