Lindsay Fell, first grade teacher at Salem Elementary, was selected from 11 of the Bryant School District’s most outstanding teachers to be the 2015 District Teacher of the Year.
The teachers were honored at the annual Retirement and Awards Reception on May 21. Other Teacher of the Year nominees, selected from each individual school, include:
Lindsey Hartsell, Bryant Elementary
Lenee Gipson, Collegeville Elementary
Bobbi Dettmer, Davis Elementary
Donna Taylor, Paron Elementary
Becky Smith, Hill Farm Elementary
Kim Trickey, Hurricane Creek Elementary
Meryl Vaughn, Springhill Elementary
Angel Moran, Bethel Middle School
Kim Overstreet, Bryant Middle School
Will Heatherly, Bryant High School
Fell has been a professional educator for the past 10 years, with an emphasis on Literacy and Mathematics. She has taught first, second, and third grades and has partnered with the District’s technology department to train teachers. She said she believes that a quality teacher is a caring teacher.
“Showing students we care about them helps create a positive, supportive relationship and helps build an environment where learning can flourish,” she said. “We’re modeling behavior we want students to learn and emulate while instilling a confidence that leads them to finding and appreciating who they are.”
Fell will represent the Bryant School District in the Arkansas Teacher of the Year competition.
