NORTH LITTLE ROCK — The Bryant High School tennis team hosted Rogers in a dual match at Burns Park on Monday but the visiting Mountaineers came away with a sweep.
In the top singles matches, Rogers’ Haeleigh Long defeated Whitney Butler of Bryant, 6-0, 6-0. For the boys, the Mounties’ Will Fusillo topped Wilson Hatcher, 6-1, 6-0.
In girls doubles, Maddi McKinney and Kaitlin Krantz of Rogers won 6-1, 6-1 over Ashlee Caton and Kristen Walter. For the boys, Riley McGill and Michael Zheng took the measure of the Hornets’ Zach Gaines and Walker Creighton.
In other boys singles matches, Rogers Alex Lewis won 6-0, 6-0 over Ryan Lynch at No. 2 while McGill won 8-0 over Brady Moore.
For the girls, Shrey Majagi won 6-2, 6-2 over Bryant’s Emma Patrick. At No. 3, Imani Gosserand won 8-2 over Estifania Ramirez. Emilee Smith took an 8-1 decision over Jayda Allen at No. 4 and Alyson Luckie finished 8-0 aginst Taylor Scifries. At No. 6, Rachle Holmer edged the Lady Hornets’ Shawna Hampton, 8-5.
In girls doubles, the Rogers team of Olivia Montoya and Jassamy Samuals won 6-1, 6-1 over Stephanie Smith and Feniece Boone. At No. 3, Mollie Jane Martin and Abby Resler combined on an 8-0 win over Alyssa Linam and Kinley Davenport.
On the boys side, the Rogers team of Moore and Brooks forged a 6-1, 6-0 win over Tyler Marshall and Haydon Brown. At No. 3, the team of Broach and Wright won 8-0 over Bryant’s Tyler Melton and Tanner Engledowl.
Bryant plays at Van Buren in its final regular-season match on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Rogers will play as well in the triangular match.
