Bryant Hornets senior kicker Hayden Ray has started a Kick-It funding page to raise funds “in honor of all kids battling cancer.”
Ray is taking pledges for every field goal and extra point he makes this season for the Hornets. Fans can go here, to pledge any amount per each point Ray scores or to make a one-time donation.
“I want to use my skills that God has given me to help change someone’s life and to play for something bigger than just my family, my team, and the crowd,” Ray writes on the Kick-It page. “With every Extra Point and Field Goal I make this season, you have the chance to support something more than just a game. I believe that when someone is granted an opportunity to change someone’s life there should be no second-guessing. We are all one big team, which means that when someone needs a helping hand we give that person multiple hands to hold on to.”
Last season, Ray tied a school record with 13 field goals and connected on 32 of 34 extra points for a total of 71 points to lead the team in scoring.
Bryant opens its season on Friday, Sept. 2, at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock with the annual Salt Bowl against the rival Benton Panthers.
