Soggy fields from the recent rains have forced the postponement of tonight’s Senior American Legion doubleheader between the Bryant Black Sox and the TEXAR Razorbacks of Texarkana scheduled for Bryant High School Field. Rains also cost a pair of games on Monday for the Sport Shop Black Sox AA team at Hot Springs Lakeside on Monday.
Over the weekend, the Senior Sox were able to get in four games at a showcase in Memphis. The Bryant team whipped Wynne 13-3; edged the Diamonds, a team based in Searcy, 5-4; blanked the Missouri Outlaws of St. Louis, 8-0; and topped the Mississippi Marlins, 5-1.
The Everett Black Sox Junior team also played at Memphis and won two of three games, beating Wynne, 10-1, and the Searcy Diamonds, 5-4. They suffered a 16-8 setback at the hands of the Mississippi Marlins, based in Kosciusko.
The last outing for the Sport Shop team was Thursday when they traveled to Ashdown and dropped both ends of a twinbill.
The Senior team is tentatively scheduled to host Little Rock for a Zone 4 doubleheader on Wednesday, June 11. Sport Shop is set to host Cabot on Thursday at 6 p.m. The next action for Everett will be at the 17-and-under Battle of Omaha tournament in Nebraska, which commences on Thursday.
