On Thursday, Oct. 9, at 6:30 p.m., at the Mabel Boswell Memorial Library on Prickett Road in Bryant, the Bryant Historical Society will present a program on The Battle of Hunter’s Crossing. The civil war battle took place on Oct. 23, 1864 about a mile and a half southeast of the Bryant Wesley Cemetery on Reynolds Road in the southern part of Bryant.
This will be the sesquicentennial (150 years) anniversary or the battle. A commemorative sign in front of the cemetery tells the story of the battle.
The video created by the historical society will portray how the lives of the Martha Mashburn family was affected by the war. A Confederate soldier portrayed by a local politician will tell the story of the battle and where the bodies of the soldiers who died there are believed to be buried.
“Please mark your calendar and come see this video of the civil war battle of Hunter’s Crossing on the Hurricane Creek, which is a part of Bryant’s history as are those who died there serving their country,” urged Patsy Kuhn, president of the Bryant Historical Society.
