BENTON — Pressure defense sparked the Bryant White Lady Hornets eighth grade team of Bryant Middle School to a 22-17 win over the Benton Lady Panthers eighth graders on Thursday night at the Benton Fieldhouse.
The Bryant White girls include[more] Jayla Anderson, Lindsey Butler, Mallory Curry, Katie Davidson, Jerrica Gray, Haley Holliman, Destiny Huffman, Colleen Johnson, Miranda Lawrence, Taylor Lindberg, Makayla Nguyen, Alexis Parsely, Briana Rutherford, Sarah Shepard and Abby Staton.
Lindberg led the team with 10 points including a pair of free throws. Anderson added 6 points with Huffman, Johnson and Staton contributing 2 apiece.
“Our press defense was very effective,” acknowledged Lady Hornets coach DeAnna Ward. “The girls did a great job of putting pressure on the ball and forcing turnovers.”
It was the team’s first game since Dec. 16. The Lady Hornets return to action on Thursday, Jan. 20, against Lake Hamilton.
