Bryant police officer Luke Smith has been in law enforcement for three years and at Bryant since 2009.
"When I was in high school, I worked as a dispatcher for a local police department in Cammack Village for six years part-time," Smith said. "The chief there ended up calling me one day and asking me if I wanted to do it. I've loved it every since."
One of the special events that Smith recalls most fondly at Cammack Village in Little Rock was teaching the children at a local elementary school.
"I enjoyed working with the kids and going into the classrooms teaching them about 911, to stop-drop-and-roll," he said. "There isn't just one instance. I enjoy coming to work every day."[more]
Since coming to Bryant, Smith has seen the city grow and with it, a top-notch police department.
"I love them both," he said. “It's a great city and it's growing a lot. There are a lot of good things going for it and city services provided are top-notch.
“That flows over into the police department, too. We've got a great chief who runs the department well and we've got a lot of great ‘toys’ that a lot of other departments don't have and that's because we have a great administration."
