In Monday's Bryant Planning Commission meeting, a public hearing was held for James and Joyce Wait, who were requesting to rezone property at 105 and 107 Ethel Drive in Bryant from its current zoning of residential-mixed to highway commercial.[more]
"All we are really asking for is to mesh the zoning on the other side of Ethel Drive with our property," James Wait said to the Commission. "We don't know what we're going to do with that yet."
LaVenia Jones, Planning Commission board member, stated that she had received a call from a resident on Ethel Drive, who asked that apartments not be built there. After a call for public comments on the issue, which no one answered, the Commission passed the zoning request on to the Bryant City Council for review.
In other Planning Commission information, there will be public hearings on Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. for Robert Jones of JOCON, Inc. at 507 Boone Road, who has applied to rezone property from residential single family and highway commercial to only highway commercial. At the same time, Rick Taylor of Harris, Taylor Co., LLC at 2509 W. Meadowbrook will have his application request for rezoning of residential mixed use to highway commercial heard, as well.
Also on Monday, Eric Krebs, representing Custom Outdoor Advertising, requested site plan approval for a billboard construction on I-30 South on the property of Everett Buick-GMC.
"There is a need for the existing billboard to be removed to comply with the regulations with the billboards in the city," Krebs said. "It will be the same thing, except set back off the road a little more."
After review from the Commission, the billboard placement was within all setback requirements and passed on to the City Council by the Commission.
Also passed on to the City Council was the approval of a preliminary plat from Roger Schrader that entails 10 lots in the Phase 2 of the North Haven subdivision. The subdivision is located on Hilldale and Rudolph Road in Bryant's territorial jurisdiction.
