Pioneer Village Spring Fest is this weekend

SEARCY — Pioneer Village will hold the 15th annual Spring Fest this weekend, May 2-3.

Costumed guides will be in the Village buildings to assist with information and questions. Visitors can hear the story of each building and how it is a part of White County History. Various out-buildings from the farm as well as farm tools, farming equipment, and Village tractors will also be on display

Pioneer craftsmen will demonstrate various crafts, including blacksmithing, spinning, quilting, wood working, and rag rug making. A chuck wagon and the cook will be on hand cooking beans and cornbread over open fires.

Antique tractors furnished by the Little Red River Flywheelers Antique Tractor Club will on display. Other crafters will be selling goat milk soaps and lotions, children’s books, duck calls, bird houses, wooden bowls and bracelets, cloth dolls, and more.

Toy Trains provided by Arkansas Traveler Hobbies of Bald Knob will be running in the Garner Depot, the oldest building still standing and useable depot in Arkansas.

Food and refreshments as well as Kettle Corn will be available.

Live farm animals and their babies will be on hand. Pioneer games for children including stilts and rolling hoops will be available. Live music as well as square dancing with be performed throughout the event.

The hours are Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, May 3 from 1 to 4 p.m. The village is located at 1200 Higginson Street, Searcy.

Admission and parking are free. Donations are accepted.

Pioneer Village is a preservation project of the White County Historical Society, a non-profit organization
