The second annual Bryant Christmas Parade of Lights made its way down Reynolds Road on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 3. Children and men and women of all ages, bundled up against the chilly temperatures, lined the streets.
Among the 47 parade entries were floats for businesses, churches and school groups. Horses and miniature horses pulling buggies, a barrel train and sports cars were also part of the parade. Santa Claus rode on top of the Bryant Fire Department’s ladder truck to bring up the rear of the parade.[more]
Following the parade, there was an after party across the interstate at Midtown. Search lights led party goers to the neighborhood where a giant movie screen showed The Polar Express in a grassy area. Radio Disney was at the event playing music and games with children who danced in hats and coats. Before Santa Claus arrived, a line had already formed with children, anxious to tell him what they wanted for Christmas, and their parents.
The Bryant Area Chamber of Commerce presented awards for parade entries at the party. The BAM Dance float was the Grand Prize winner. They were given a $100 Visa gift card and a large trophy. Hurricane Creek Elementary won first place for their float and received a $75 gift card and trophy. Second place winner, Abundant Life was awarded a $50 gift card and trophy. The Boys and Girls Club took third place and received a $25 gift card and a trophy. All gift cards were donated by First Security Bank.
