After 16 innings without giving up a run, Bryant's Aaron Davidson surrendered a pair of runs in two innings of relief for the Arizona Giants against the Arizona Indians on Friday, Aug. 7.
He did, however, extend his streak of innings without giving up a walk to 20 in the 4-2 Giants loss.[more]
The right-hander came on in relief of starter Christopher Heston in the top of the sixth inning of the Class A Arizona League game. The Indians led 2-1 at the time. Davidson was greeted with a double to left field by Chris Kersten then uncorked a pair of wild pitches to allow the runner to take third and then score. He struck out a pair around a single then ended the inning with a grounder to second.
The Indians added an unearned run in the seventh against Davidson. With one out, Kevin Rucker doubled and Trent Baker singled. A throwing error by Giants first baseman Carlos Qunitana allowed Rucker to score. Baker stole second but Davidson got out of it by inducing a tap back to the mound and a fly to right.
That completed his stint. It was his seventh appearance in the row without giving up a walk. For the season, Davidson is 1-0 with a 4.55 earned run average over 27 2/3 innings. He's fanned 24 and given up 28 hits.
