CONWAY — The Nutter’s Chapel golf course in Conway wasn’t too kind to the[more] Bryant High School golf team on Monday as they competed in a three-school match there.
Conway took top honors in both the girls and boys competitions. Cabot was second and Bryant third. In boys play, Conway’s scoring quartet accumulated a round of 154. Cabot finished at 157 and Bryant at 170. For the girls, Conway’s trio of players compiled a score of 124. Cabot finished at 129 and Bryant at 147.
“Hopefully, we have gotten out the bad round of play,” commented Bryant coach Keith Dale. “Most of the team played horribly but there were some really good performances.”
For the girls, Peyton Weaver shot a 44. The boys were led by Chase Thornton’s 38. And, though he wasn’t playing with the varsity in this match, Ross Weaver matched Thornton’s round of 38.
The Lady Hornets’ scoring trio was rounded out by Carley Miller who carded a 50 and Savanna Cathey who shot a 53. Tiffany Robinson finished at 59.
Joining Thornton in the Hornets’ scoring group were Tyler Green at 40 along with Nick Canale and Ashton Green who both turned in rounds of 46. Austin Harmon had an off day at 47. In addition, Gary Williamson who wasn’t playing for the varsity in the match shot a 44.
Bryant is scheduled to return to their home course at Hurricane Creek Golf Club for its next match on Thursday, Sept. 15.
