Havis Adell Lunsford, 80, of Pickens went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Delta Memorial Hospital in Dumas.
He was born July 13, 1934 and was a son of the late Henry Black Lunsford and Mattie Lula Mae Winston Lunsford of Rison. Adell married Ellen Lovell on Dec. 16, 1953. The couple had eight children.
Adell moved his family to Pickens in 1964, working for R.A. Pickens & Son Co., for nearly 40 years as a farmer until his retirement. Adell was an avid gardener. He loved to fish, hunt and help others in need. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Dumas for many years.
Adell was preceded in death by three brothers: Billy Gene Lunsford, Troy Dean Lunsford and Donnie Lee Lunsford; two sisters, Carolyn Sue Leopard and Pauline Lunsford.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ellen Lovell Lunsford; five daughters, Linda Jean Davidson of Star City, Nancy Lunsford of White Hall, Kathy Elliott of Tillar, Mary Mallory of Bryant and Karen Smith of Little Rock; three sons, Allen Lunsford of East End, Michael Lunsford and Roger Lunsford, both of Dumas; five brothers, Lonnie Lee Lunsford of Malvern, Charlie Ray Lunsford and John L. Lunsford of Pine Bluff, Larry Dewayne Lunsford of Conway and William Henry Lunsford of Clinton, three sisters, Maxine Ward of Sheridan, Dorothy Faye Matkins of Fordyce and Martha Nell Nicholson of Clinton; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation was held Saturday, March 7, from 6-8 p.m., at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 8, at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Julius Carter officiating with burial following in Walnut Lake Cemetery.
