NORTH LITTLE ROCK — A fourth-quarter surge by the North Little Rock Junior Lady Cats freshman team produced a 38-30 win over the Bryant Lady Hornets freshman team on Thursday.
The game was tied at 8 after a quarter and at 16 at the half. It was 22-22 going into the fourth quarter.
“I thought we got wore down at the end,” said Bryant coach Nathan Castaldi. “North Little Rock puts a ton of pressure on you and, by the end, I thought it wore us down. I have to do a better job of getting us ready to play against that type of pressure the next time.”
Mary Catherine Selig led Bryant with 12 points. Lauren Burnett added 6 with Allison Steen and Kalia Walker scoring 4 each. Allie Dugan and Meagan Chism had 2 points apiece.
“We had the lead much of the first half,” Castaldi noted. “Each time North Little Rock would make a little run and try to come back, we would answer back. In the second half, North Little Rock started to take the lead, but we would always answer their run with one of our own.”
The Lady Hornets, now 2-4, will try to bounce back on Monday, Dec. 7, when they host Conway Blue.
