According to numbers released by Assistant Superintendent Don McGohan at the October school board meeting, as of Oct. 1, 2009, the official enrollment for the Bryant School District was 7,666, an increase of 283 students over last year.
If the city continues to grow at a similar rate, schools will be at capacity soon. According to the district, some schools, such as Bethel Middle School, are already at capacity.
The school board is aware of the situation and will address the issue at a public facility meeting scheduled to be held Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 5 p.m. in the professional development center in building 18 on the high school campus.
At the meeting, the board will discuss topics such as new buildings, rezoning and other options being considered to meet the demands of the growing population. A brief special board meeting is also scheduled for 4:30 that same day and place.
