RUSSELLVILLE — The Bryant Junior Hornets placed three runners in the top 15 to earn a runner-up[more] finish at the Russellville Cyclone Invitational Saturday. The Junior Hornets scored 80 points to finish behind Lake Hamilton (55 points).
Twenty teams and 266 runners competed in the 2 mile race.
Ben Majors blazed the trail for Bryant, earning a seventh-place finish with a time of 11:36. Zane Pitman (12th in 12:07), Stephen Cockmon (15th in 12:10), Jhorman Cruz (23rd in 12:18), Chandler Reep (26th in 12:21), Ian Britt (27th in 12:23), and Eric Stewart (29th in 12:24) rounded out the Junior Hornets’ top seven.
"Ben Majors ran a very good race,” stated Bryant coach Steve Oury. “On that course you have to get out to a good start, and Ben did just that.
“I think some of our guys got behind in the first half mile and had trouble fighting their way back,” he added. “Give credit to Lake Hamilton for running a great race.
“Next week, our top runners will be moving up in distance to run a 5k at the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, so it will be very interesting to see how they do," the coach concluded.
