Lorne Gladden has announced that he is seeking election to the Bryant City Council as Alderman for Ward 1, Position 1.
Gladden has lived in Bryant for 23 years. He is the owner and president of Gladden & Metz, a medical supply firm located in Bryant.
“It would be an honor to represent the citizens of Bryant and a chance to give back through service to the place that I call home,” Gladden said.
After graduating from Bryant High School in 2002, Gladden joined the United States Marine Corps. He was deployed to Iraq where he served in the Al Anbar Province.
“After 9/11, I felt an obligation to serve my country, as so many others did,” Gladden said.
After returning home, Gladden resumed his studies at Pulaski Tech and UALR.
“I believe that government should always be accountable to its citizens,” he said. “Tax revenue should be used wisely to maintain low taxes. I support strong public safety to keep our citizens safe and programs to encourage the youth of our community, as they are our future. If elected, I will use my business experience and leadership skills to help keep Bryant a great place to live.”
Gladden is a member of the Marine Corps League, VFW, Bryant Historical Society, and is a volunteer for Saline County Office of Emergency Management. He and his fiancé, Katie Webb, are members of St. Theresa Catholic Church and will be married in December of this year. He is the son of Steve Gladden, a four-term Bryant alderman, who is stepping down at the end of the current term.
The Ward 1, Position 1 seat is currently held by Scott Curtis who is not seeking re-election.
