The Bryant Blue Lady Hornets of Bethel Middle School and the Anthony School Lady Panthers were engaged in a nip-and-tuck battle through three quarters[more] of their eighth grade game Thursday. But, in the fourth quarter, the Lady Panthers put together a push to extract a 27-19 victory.
The Bryant Blue team includes Annamarie Blair, Isabella Bluemmel, Julie Brazil, Nikki Clay, Haley Dellis, Brittany Kelley, Mercedes Dillard, Yessenia Gasper, Katelyn Giffin, Emily Henson, Allison Hughes, Jamie Jamison, Rylee Phillips, Sadie Powers, and Dominque West.
The Lady Hornets held a 7-6 lead after a quarter then only 2 points were scored in the second allowing the Lady Panthers to take an 8-7 lead into the locker room at intermission. By the end of the third quarter, the Anthony School girls had nudged ahead 16-13 before nearly doubling its score in the final period.
Clay led the Lady Hornets with 7 points. Blummel added 4. Dillard, Hughes, Phillips and Gaspar each pitched in with 2 points.
The Lady Hornets return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Conway White.
