In a match that looked like it was headed to PK’s in a shootout, the Russellville Cyclones scored a goal off a long ball with just 2:55 left in regulation and held on for the victory over the Bryant Hornets on Friday night in 7A/6A-Central Conference play.
It was the second 1-0 loss for the Hornets in as many nights.
“We played well, much better than Thursday (at Benton),” said Hornets coach Jason Hay. “We had plenty of chances and could not score. It was a good effort.”
Hay praised his keeper.
“Jon Sohn had a very good game,” he said. “We just need to start scoring.”
Now 11-4 overall and 3-2 in conference play, the Hornets take a break from the league to host once and future conference foe Little Rock Central on Monday, April 18.
