RUSSELLVILLE — The Bryant Lady Hornets freshman team won the first set of their Central Arkansas Junior High Conference match against the Russellville Lady Whirlwinds Monday night but it was a struggle to maintain the upper hand on the road. Russellville bounced back and wound up winning 2-1, 22-25, 25-15, 15-8 over Bryant.
The Lady Hornets are 9-6 overall and 4-3 in league play now going into their final two regular season matches, at Cabot South on Thursday and at home against Conway White on Monday, Oct. 20. They compete in the league’s post-season tournament back at Russellville starting Oct. 25.
Monday, the Lady Hornets had 10 kills as a team, led by Raven Loveless, Jad’n Nichols and Brittney Warner with three each. Ashlyn Lee had the 10th.
They had only seven service errors as a team. Regan Ryan was good on all 14 of her serves with one ace. Warner had an ace and Lee was eight of eight on her serves. Kyla Baker was four of five with a team-high 10 digs.
