As the No. 2 seed from the 7A-West Conference, the Bryant Lady Hornets will open play in the[more] 2012 Class 7A State Tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m. The tourney will be hosted by Heritage High School in Rogers.
The Lady Hornets secured the No. 2 slot and a first-round bye with their win over Benton on Tuesday, which also clinched the 7A/6A-South Conference championship.
As the second seeded team from the West, the Lady Hornets may get a chance to avenge their heartbreaking loss at last year’s State tourney where they won the first two games of their opening match against Fort Smith Southside only to have the Lady Rebels rally to win in five games.
This year, Southside (ironically a former West team that’s not in the Central, the league Bryant represented last year) will play as the No. 3 seed against Rogers, the sixth seed from the West, to open State play on Tuesday, Oct. 30. The winner will advance to play Bryant on Wednesday.
The Lady Hornets, 24-6-2 overall this season, wrap up the regular season tonight at home against Nettleton. There will be a JV game at 5 followed by the varsity match.
