On Saturday, April 19, several members of the Bryant Lady Hornets softball team shared the game they love with some inspirational athletes who participate in the Miracle League.
Abby Staton, a junior at Bryant High School, explained, “It was a great experience and so much fun. I enjoyed being able to help and interact with the kids. It was truly a life-changing experience and I can’t wait to go back next year.”
The Miracle League is a national charitable organization that provides children with mental and/or physical challenges an opportunity to play baseball in an organized league.
The Lady Hornets became “buddies” for these athletes, assisting them with hitting, running and fielding as needed, and encouraging them every step of the way.
“It made me think about how blessed I am to be able to play this sport,” said junior Nikki Clay.“I realized that sometimes I take the game for granted while other kids are wishing that they could be doing what we do. At Miracle League, every kid gets the chance to fall in love with the sport and, at the same time, the volunteers remember why they fell in love with it in the first place.”
