LITTLE ROCK — Saying her team, “played better than we ever have at a tournament,” Bryant Lady Hornets volleyball coach Beth Solomon gave her team a grade of B for finishing in the top eight at the 24-team Little Rock Spikefest on Saturday, Aug. 28.
Bryant finished second in its pool with wins that included a pair of 7A/6A-Central Conference rivals.[more]
“I’m very proud of the way the girls played,” Solomon said. “We’re still working on our consistency. It’s getting better but it’s still not where it needs to be yet.”
In pool play, the Lady Hornets began with a 10-25, 9-25 loss to Marion. But they bounced back to defeat Springdale of the 7A-West, 25-20, 25-19 then league rival Russellville, 25-15, 25-17. They followed that up by downing conference foe Mount St. Mary, 25-21, 25-23.
That advanced the Lady Hornets to play perennial state power Nettleton which ended their run, 12-25, 19-25.
