LITTLE ROCK — Sometimes the shots just don’t go in.
On Saturday, at the Little Rock Christian Invitational Tournament, the Bryant Lady Hornets eased past the Cabot Lady Panthers 3-0 then launched 23 shots at the hosting Lady Warriors. But only one of them went in and when Little Rock Christian managed a goal with :33 left in the match, the stunned Lady Hornets had suffered their first loss of the 2015 season, 2-1, after winning their first seven.
Bryant hosts Cabot tonight in a final tune-up before opening 7A/6A-Central Conference play against Siloam Springs on Friday.
Hadley Dickinson’s goal off an assist by Caroline Campbell had given Bryant a 1-0 lead at the 25:56 mark of the first half. Little Rock Christian tied it off a free kick at the 20:37 mark.
But then neither team could score until that last-minute game-winner. The Lady Hornets were 0 for 10 in the second half.
Between their goals, the Lady Warriors missed six shots with keeper Maddie Hawkins earning four saves as part of that.
In the win over Cabot, the Lady Hornets built a 2-0 halftime lead while holding the Lady Panthers without a shot on goal.
Dickinson had the first goal off a feed from Anna Lowery at the 13:22 mark. Allison Hughes got an assist from Jessica Butler for a goal at 10:06.
In the second half, Britney Sahlmann added a goal at 21:53 with Kendall Selig getting the assist.
