FAYETTEVILLE — The Randal Tyson Track Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas lays claim to being the fastest track in the world. That fact rang true for the Bryant Lady Hornets’ 4 x 400-meter relay team Saturday night at the Arkansas National Track Invitational.
Running out of the slow heat, the team of Haley Hood, Jadyn Lewis, Rachael Owens and Feniece Boone set a new Bryant school record of 4:02.82 on their way to a fifth place overall finish. Bryant won their heat leading wire-to-wire and overall was the top team from the state of Arkansas.
“I would love to have been entered in the fast heat because I know we could have run faster,” stated Bryant coach Danny Westbrook. “Coach Keith Dale, our sprint coach, has done a great job with these ladies. This is our first meet of the season so this really shows our training is on the right track.”
Bryant is set to compete at the Arkansas State Indoor Invitational meet on Jan. 30.
