LITTLE ROCK — Andrew Kincaid cleared the offensive glass and scored with :02 left as the Bryant Blue Hornets eighth grade team[more] of Bethel Middle School edged Arkansas Baptist 43-41 Wendesday evening.
With the win, the Hornets advanced to the semifinals of the Anthony Classic at the Anthony School in Little Rock tonight at 5:30.
The team includes Jake Acord, Austin Green, Ryan Hall, Jason Hastings, Brushawn Hunter, Kincaid, Blaine Knight, Brian Tackett, Paul Tierney, Brandon Warner, John Winn, Mark Winn, Dylan Wolfe and Brendan Young.
The Hornets trailed 23-10 at the half but battled back within 29-26 going into the fourth quarter.
“We played very well in the second half,” noted Hornets coach Derek McGrew. “For the first time this year, we went to our full-court man defense and it seemed to get them going.”
Hunter led the scoring with 11 points. Hastings had 9, Warner and John Winn 8 each with Kincaid kicking in 7.
