CABOT — The Bryant Hornets junior varsity team broke open a scoreless game when Landon Smith hauled in a touchdown pass from Beaux Bonvillain just before halftime and they went on to beat the Cabot Panthers JV, 17-7, on Monday night.
The Hornets finished off their junior varsity schedule with a 6-1 record.
Bryant built a 17-0 lead. Jordan Gentry threw a TD pass to Najee Hunt in the third quarter and, in the fourth, Hayden Ray kicked a 25-yard field goal. Cabot didn’t score until late in the game.
Jake Hall recovered a Cabot fumble early in the second half and Walker Brown intercepted a pass to seal the win in the fourth quarter.
“The defense held the Panthers to 10 offensive plays in the first half,” noted Bryant coach Clint Shadwick. “Offensively, we had three or four scoring opportunities that were stopped by penalties and sacks.”
