PEARCY — The Bryant Hornets freshman team’s plans to play for the championship of the second annual Kameron Hale Invitational Tournament at Lake Hamilton High School were[more] dashed on Thursday by the Hot Springs Junior Trojans. Despite leading early in the contest, the Hornets absorbed a 49-33 loss.
The team includes Phillip Barnett, Dakota Besancon, Chase Christie, Brandon Cranford, Cedarrian Crosby, Evan Davis, Trevor Ezell, Greyson Giles, T.J. Hall, Austin Hammonds, Hunter Holder, Matt Jernigan, Spencer Kilgore, Slade Lewis, Madre London, Dylan Masters, Davis Nossaman, Gray Orman, Garrett Phillips, C.J. Rainey, Brian Reed, Mitchell Scoggins, Caleb Strain and Christian Washington.
Bryant will play Lake Hamilton in the third-place game today at 4:15 p.m., while Hot Springs advances to take on Lakeside in the title tilt.
The Hornets were led by Scoggins’ 10 points. Rainey added 7, London and Reed 4 each. Giles, who had a 21-point performance on Wednesday in the Hornets’ opening win over Arkadelphia, was held to just 3 by the Junior Trojans. Orman and Strain finished with 2 each, Nossaman 1.
Bryant led 10-6 after a quarter but trailed 19-16 at the half and never could regain the advantage down the stretch.
