FAYETTEVILLE — The Bryant Junior Lady Hornets moved up to the race 5K distance at the Chile Pepper Invitational Saturday. Bryant scored 343 points to finish as the 11th place team. There were 30 teams and 457 total runners in the race.
The Junior Lady Hornets were led by eight-grader Mary Catherine Selig who finished 32nd in a time of 21:53. Freshman Lauren Hart took 45th place in a time of 22:12.
Other Bryant finishers were Bailey Brazil (82nd, 23:02), Alyssa Rowland (123rd, 23:53), Olivia Orr (138th, 24:12), Camryn Bolton (145th, 24:15), Mika Johnson (165th, 24:35), Carissa Colclasure (170th, 24:38), Flora Noble (180th, 24:53), Kaylin Watts (222nd, 25:45), and Kristin Garner (340th, 28:45).
“I was proud of our junior girls,” said Bryant coach Danny Westbrook. “I think they were a little nervous having to run the extra mile over their normal race distance, but they handled it very well. I thought Mary Catherine Selig and Lauren Hart both had outstanding races.”
The annual Bryant Invitational meet will be held next Saturday, Oct. 11, at Bishop Park.
