The Bryant High School wrestling team begins its second season at a tournament at Little Rock Central on Saturday. Head coach Elliott Jacobs welcomes back six returning lettermen including Brandon Powell who finished second in the state in the 103-pound division last season.
Other returning lettermen include Forest Fowler (135-pound division), Justin Davis (145), Nick Philpott (152), Jacob Brady (171) and Chris Hendrix (285).[more]
“We have two move-ins, Jonathan Roberts from CAC who won state at the lower level (1A-5A) and O’Dell Lee from Arkansas School for the Blind who finished third at lower level and is by far our best wrestler,” Jacobs stated.
The varsity team also includes seniors Jordan Harrison (125-pound division) and James Jones, a newcomer to the team who Jacobs expects to help out at the 215 and 285 weight divisions.
Sophomores on the team include Caleb Thomas (130), Justin Davis (145) and Jace Denker (160). Freshmen that made varsity include Casey Cormier (103), Zach Simmons (119) and Collin Battaglia (140).
