The Bryant Hornets wrestling team makes its 2012-13 season debut this Saturday at the[more] Little Rock Central Classic. The meet begins at 8 a.m.
The team is coming off a sixth-place finish at the State Tournament last season.
Though State champion O’Dell Lee and State runner-up Brandon Powell have graduated, new head coach Dondre Harris will welcome back seniors Zack Simmons, Levi Brady, Connor Goshien and Brett Bland.
“The 2011-12 team was one filled with great achievement,” Harris said. “The bar is now set even higher than in past years. I think this will be a season full of excitement.”
Blend, Brady and Simmons each returns to improve on fourth-place finishes in their respective weight classes at State last year. Goshien seeks to improve on his fifth-place finish.
The team also includes seniors Blake Parker Sam Wallace, juniors Chris Baldwin, Spencer Qualls, Colton Caviness, J.T. Dudderar, and Ben Freeman as well as sophomores Kyle Thompson, Drew Allen, Thor Wilson, Bo Birdsong and Jarian Robinson. Freshmen on the team are Cody Tazelaar, Jared Marsh, and Justice Pryor.
